Band Director/Teacher:  The Charlottesville City Schools in Charlottesville, Virginia is seeking applicants for a high school band director/teacher for a 200+ student band.  The primary function of the band director/teacher is to direct and coordinate the band program at Charlottesville High School, while also working with other fine and performing arts programs within the city and city schools.  Experience in marching band is required.  Experience conducting Level VI music and experience collaborating with symphonic orchestras are valued.  Individuals interested in applying should complete an application online at www.ccs.k12.va.us.  The deadline to apply is July 5, 2010 or until the position is filled.  Supporting information (including a list of awards your band(s) have received) should be attached to the online application. Director of Contemporary and Youth Music Ministry-- Herndon United Methodist Church, in Northern Virginia has an immediate opening for a part-time (15 hrs/wk) Director of Contemporary & Youth Music Ministry.  This well-qualified, experienced person will provide worship leadership and musical direction for a weekly contemporary worship service (The Connection).   Responsibilities include direction of existing praise band and providing leadership for continuing development of contemporary worship.  In addition, this person will work collaboratively with Youth Ministry to provide music ministry opportunities for Youth, including support of a Sunday evening Youth Worship Service.  This person will work in collaboration with volunteers, staff and the new Director of Children’s Music/Performing Arts Ministry and new Director Traditional (Liturgical) Music Ministry  Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent , and/or four years experience with contemporary music  and the desire and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.  Resumes may be submitted via email to pastordenise@herndonumc.org  by August 1, 2010. Director of Children’s Music and Performing Arts Ministry-- Herndon United Methodist Church, in Northern Virginia has an immediate opening for a part-time (10 hrs/wk) Director of Children’s Music and Performing Arts Ministry.  This qualified, experienced person will  work with the Children’s Ministry Team in providing engaging music ministry opportunities for children from preschool through grade 6. 1st Year Vocal/General Music Instructor - Soundscapes, located in Newport News, Virginia is in search of a 1st Year Vocal/General Music Instructor.  The 1st Year Vocal Instructor’s main responsibility is exposing and training 1st grade student’s tonal ear through song.  The selected applicant will teach two sessions per day of up to 35 students for 35 min. each session, with the end goal of combining the two groups to perform concerts.   The program runs Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45 pm until 4:45 pm and is located at Carver Elementary School located at 6160 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA.
