Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) announces a search to fill the position of VMEA Professional Development Coordinator. The VMEA Professional Development Coordinator manages all aspects of professional development events and training for the Association, including the annual professional development conference in November, as well as other professional development opportunities deemed appropriate by the VMEA Executive Board.
The PD Coordinator leads the conference planning team and works with stakeholders to implement professional development for the organization, including in-person and virtual events. Primary responsibilities include scheduling, communicating with presenters, and coordinating equipment. Applicants should have a strong understanding of event planning and logistics, music education, advocacy and arts education issues, coupled with comprehensive management experience. This position works closely with the Executive Director and the VMEA Performance Coordinator.

*This is a stipend position and compensation shall be negotiated based upon experience and background.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- managing multiple projects such as the annual PD conference and smaller events throughout the year, including virtual PD opportunities
- support the annual VMEA leadership training at the September Council of Review meeting
- maintain ongoing and regular contact with all stakeholders, including planning committees, executive board, presenters, room chairs, vendors, social media team, etc.
- maintain a calendar of events, documents, records and files, and supplies
- review all contracts, suggesting modifications to rules and/or policies and procedures
- work with planning committees to plan and implement annual conference, workshops, and membership meeting(s)
- scheduling and registration for conference and other professional development
- execute contracts and commitments, defining duties and expectations, and informing the board on contract status
- assist with the development/layout of printed material, promotional fliers, etc.
- respond promptly to telephone and email
- provide on-site management of events, resolve problems or concerns
- other duties as assigned
